Back To The Drawing Board
Well, I’m back all of you beautiful people.
After many months of running this computer I received from my school, the hard drive crashed the other day, I ordered a little 80GB one. I am now running off the 80GB hard drive until I get enough money to just get a custom build computer.
Upside to the new hard drive is, I don’t have to buy a new one when I order the parts for my custom build. I will be able to use this one until I get enough money saved up again to order a 4TB hard drive.
Why so much space? To allow me to be able to download new MMO’s and test out the graphics and look at their HUDs to get an idea for how I am going to develop The Void’s HUD. I’m sticking with the 2D feel for The Void, I will probably add in a few 2.5D maps in houses in different towns.
THAT IS STILL BEING DECIDED!
I’m not sure if BYOND Script allows for 2.5D maps or not, I will be testing it out sometime in the near future hopefully.
The Void is being developed in ByondScript just for the Beta release. When the full release is done it will be developed in C/++ with Lua & Perl. The only downside to the hard drive failure is I lost all of my backups of the program and the code. So everything is going to be re-written and allowed for more efficient code to be developed.
Thanks for your time,
Blake Ridgway

Update On The Void
Recently I have not had a desktop computer to do work on the game so it’s all on the respo’s for the netbook until I can get enough money to get a new desktop computer.
Before all my computer troubles started up I implemented the chat system and added a few simple ‘commands’ to allow the users to be more interactive with each other; I will begin work on the character bases sometime soon. I need to get a computer to be able to run some graphics art programs, such as GIMP, CS3, CS4, or CS5. Sadly, my little netbook barely runs GIMP; why Acer put Windows 7 on a computer with only 1GB of RAM and a Intel Atom 1.60GHz processor is beyond me. I may try to install XUbuntu or another distro of Linux Ubuntu to get the art work started.
I lost a bare minimum of 6-10 lines of coding that I have replaced and the lines are functional and working like they should be. I plan to implement the combat system in sometime this week, along with working HP and MP bars and spells.
I do apologize for the lack of posts about the game, but I have been super busy with real life and I haven’t had time to do much work on it, or let alone do any posts on here about the progress. I have one week of school left and it’s pretty much cram week at my trade school I go to school. I have completed a chapter every day just to try to fit
all the material we didn’t cover during the school year into the last couple of weeks during school, I have a final exam for Computer Repair and Troubleshooting II and CCNA II next week on Monday. I am hoping to finish both classes and the final exams by the end of this week, I took both today and tomorrow off to get notes and labs done for the two classes and have the exams done by Friday!
Other Things Besides The Void
I have started playing RuneScape again, I have also went back into the music scene doing vocals and screams. I enjoy doing it whenever I can. It’s a joy, I don’t care what risks it means I take but I do what I enjoy.
I finally got a job, I am now an employee at Godfather’s Pizza in Enid, Oklahoma. I do anything around the kitchen from goldening pans to making pizzas. I’m going to try to get every Monday and Saturday off to work on The Void. I am as of right now just working shifts that can go any from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. it all depends on how many orders we get that day. Some days I can be gone by 6, others I won’t get out until 9. Depends on how busy we get. I work Sunday mornings 11-3, buffet…oh what a horrid nightmare. Trying to prep all the pans and goldens while making pizzas is a pain. Oh well, I’ll get used to it. I finished my first week of work Yesterday (Sunday, May 13, 2012), I get along with all the workers there so hopefully it won’t be too bad…

Still Progessing?
Yes I am still working on The Void
I recently started working at Godfathers Pizza, have been working 5-8 then after I finish there I come home and do homework. Trying to stay ahead of my classes and finish school early, I haven’t been doing a lot of the game development side of the project but more of the website development, more to come ;)
I love you all thanks for the support!

Update on the website (Another one)
The website will now be written in PHP, as well as being compatible with HTML5.
-
Progress on the Website
The website had to be trashed and re-done. I didn’t like the way the HTML was laid out, syntax was all screwed up.
How I tend to make the website.
- Working Links
- JavaScript Intro Logo
- Forums Running PHPBB
- HTML5 Compatible
- Tables are correctly laid out
- Photos are able to be hosted from other sources
- Log-in info for members of the website
I know it’ll take a lot of time to do all of this that’s why the deadline for the website has been pushed back to a year. The VPS that will be hosting my web server has agreed to hold the port open for myself until the website is finished.
As for ‘The Void’, the game is still going to be written in ByondScript and later re-written in C/++ and Lua/C#.
It’ll be all solo work so there is no set date for the game release. I will keep everyone up to date.
Thanks for your time,
Blake ‘Volspor’ Ridgway.

I’m making headway!

Somethings About Myself
Hey guys,
It’s Blake or Volspor, whatever you call me.I think it’s time for a formal introduction. :)
My name is Blake Ridgway
I am a programmer.
I am in the beginning stages of writing games for BYOND.com.
I am a web developer.
I am somewhat a vocalist..
I am Seventeen years old.I still go to high school, I also attend a trade school to get more teachings in Information Technology. I do not enjoy the genres of music that have rap or any form of rap in them, I do enjoy some country but not a lot. I am metal head. I listen to all different genres of metal, my current genre is Metalcore, such bands as: Of Mice and Men, Asking Alexandria, Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows, etc..
I know HTML, CSS, PHP, and ByondScript. I am in beginning stages of learning C/C++/C#, it’s a long process but I am going to press head strong into it.My whole idea for ‘The Void’ is a complicated one that will be utilized in ByondScript and later re-written in C++ and scripted with Perl or Ruby.
I do plan to attend college, I am currently looking at UAH, also known as University of Alabama in Huntsville, it’s quite the ways from home as I live in Enid, Oklahoma. I plan to get a degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science, I will be living in Alabama for awhile to get my degree and graduate from UAH, then I will be on the move up to Kansas to start a game development company there, I know I have high hopes for my life but I will exceed the hopes.
I am Atheist, although my family has a strong belief in God. I do not see how one can waste their time away on a being that has never made any presence on earth. It just seems far stretch if you ask me.
I will be going now as for I have to finish the website for ‘The Void’ within a month or two…
Yay! Deadlines!
Thanks For Your Time,
Blake ‘Volspor’ Ridgway
